growth... After winning the 'Wools of New Zealand Design award in the summer of 2000, things went from strength to strength. HMD gained recognition and stature. Commissions spanned the length and width of the country and we received interest from as far a field as America. Our reputation for producing quality pieces of art and textiles at affordable prices was second to none (note: we are not accepting commissions / orders at this time). |
designs...Collections represent past memories and surroundings - designs start with urban images, yet my sketches don't depict the actual landscape I see. I deconstruct the image before me and sketch only connecting geometric forms, depicting tactile surfaces and colour. These sketches are then reproduced in the studio using a variety of different media and tools, keeping only the basic form and structure and ensuring the finished piece is unrecognisable from the original source. Keeping up with current colour trends, I always apply my knowledge in the collections I create. |

exhibiting... The majority of my commission work was from word of mouth - which is always the best way - but I also exhibited in a few select interior shops throughout Yorkshire, as well as some craft fairs. |
